How Firm is the Joybed Mattress?
The Joybed LX Mattress
This Joybed model comes with a firm (7) setting. It is bouncy and responsive, which makes it optimal for heavier weight sleepers.
Joybed LXC Mattress
The LXC has a firmness setting of medium-firm (6). It offers a perfect balance between pressure relief and evenly distributed support. This model is optimum for both lightweight and average weight sleepers.
Joybed LXP Mattress
The LXP model has the lowest setting at medium-soft (4). This model offers the best body-conforming feel perfect for pressure relief. The LXP is optimal for the lightweight sleepers as well as some of the average weight ones who prefer a soft bed.
Sleeping on the Joybed Mattress (Sleeping Positions)
The LX model is best for side and back sleeping positions for the average to heavier weight sleepers. The firm setting provides ample support for the hips and shoulders. It also keeps the spine fully aligned and prevents pressure in the lumbar region.
The LXC model is perfect for the back and side sleeping positions for all weight categories. The balance between pressure relief and body support keeps their bodies in excellent alignment. The stomach sleepers found their hips sinking more, causing unwanted lower back pains.
The LXP model favored the side sleepers of the lightweight and average weight group. The soft body-cushioning provided more than adequate relief at the hips and shoulders. The heavier weight sleepers did not like the LXP because it restricted their movements.
What does the Joybed Mattress Feel Like?
The firm LX model is bouncy and responsive. The LXC gives the right amount of softness that allows you to sink in a little without being engulfed by the mattress.
It also keeps you ‘on top’ of the bed. The LXP offers a luxuriously soft feeling caused by the body-conforming quality of the mattress.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230lbs
This group favored the LXC and LXP more than the firmer LX model. The LXC and LXP offered them good to excellent levels of comfort while sleeping on their back and side. They provided adequate support for the hips and shoulders while maintaining good body alignment. This group had moderate to good results on the LX while sleeping on their stomach.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs
This group preferred the LX and LXC models for sleeping on their back and side. The LX also provided a moderate result at the stomach position. The firm setting kept the sleepers from sinking into the mattress, and that prevented body misalignment.
The sleepers in this weight category found the LXP too soft. They experienced resistance while moving, and that made shifting to other positions difficult.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lbs
The lightweight sleepers preferred the LXP and LXC models because these provided them with good to excellent comfort while sleeping in the back and side positions. They also had moderate results while sleeping on their stomach.
This group found the LX model too firm because they developed considerable pressure at the hips and shoulders.

All three Joybed mattress models have a quilted natural cotton cover. This organic fabric provides softness and breathability for a comfortable sleeping experience.

The different compositions of the comfort layers influenced the firmness of the mattress models. The LXP model, having the most number of cotton segments in the comfort layer, offers the softest and most body-conforming quality among the three models.
Support Layer
All models have pocketed coils comprising the support layer, with thicker coils located at the perimeter to boost edge reinforcement.
It is important to note that the LXP model has a zoned coil system. That means thicker coils are strategically located at areas corresponding to the hips and shoulders to provide extra lift. That feature helps to maintain proper body alignment despite the soft quality of the mattress.

Sleeping Hot or Cold
All Joybed Mattress models exhibit a neutral cooling temperature due to the use of natural materials in the cover and comfort layers. The coil system in the support layer provides adequate air circulation that dissipates heat accumulated during sleep.
Motion Transfer
The natural comfort layers of the Joybed mattress can isolate motion to a certain degree. However, because of the coil support system, the bed still has enough bounce to transmit a minimal amount of movement. The LXP has a better motion isolation capability compared to the other two models because it contains more layers of natural comfort materials.
Edge Support
All the three Joybed Mattress models have superior edge support performance primarily due to the low-gauge (thicker) coils placed at the perimeter. The particular arrangement minimizes the compression and sinkage when a person sits at the sides. That makes all three variants optimal for couples.
Durability
Mattresses made from natural materials last longer than those with synthetic components. Combined with a robust support layer, all three Joybed Mattress models have a lifespan of 7 years.
Off-Gassing
There is an initial off-gassing odor present when the mattress is unboxed, but this smell dissipates after some time.
Noise
All the three Joybed Mattress models emit very little noise while bearing weight. The numerous natural fiber materials surrounding the coil system absorb any sound the coils will make.
Warranty Info
- All Joybed mattress models come with a warranty valid for ten years:
- Warranty validity starts on the original purchase date and is non-prorated.
- Warranty depends on the use of an appropriate mattress foundation. Joybed insists on a robust, fixed reinforcement, or spring box. The use of any inappropriate foundation or box will result in the warranty being void.
- All transport and shipping costs for replaced or repaired mattresses will be borne by the owner.
- Conditions included in the warranty:
- Apparent depressions or bending on the surface that are 1.5 inches or deeper.
- Factory defects found in the mattress.
6. Conditions not included in the warranty:
- Apparent depressions or bending on the surface that is not 1.5 inches or deeper.

7. The warranty is granted only to the primary owner who buys the unit from Joybed or an accredited distributor. 8.Current users who purchase the unit from the first owner or an unauthorized distributor will not get the warranty benefits.

Joybed Mattress VS Avocado Green Mattress
The Avocado Green Mattress is an eco-friendly bed made of natural and organic foams combined with top-quality coils. The overall feel is a luxurious yet supportive bed.
Construction and Materials
The Avocado Green’s cover is a natural cotton fabric that is tufted by hand to an organic wool lining. The cover effectively absorbs heat and moisture to provide temperature regulation.
The Avocado Green has an optional latex topper (pillow top). This pillow top increases the mattress thickness by 2 inches. Conversely, it decreases the firmness of the bed (7 without pillow top, 6.5 with pillow top). Of course, it adds about 30% to price. The Avocado Green can be compared to the Joybed Mattress models LX and LXC with their firmness settings at 7 and 6, respectively.
The Avocado Green’s comfort layer is a 2-inch Dunlop latex foam. That gives the Avocado Green its bouncy feel which is excellent for back and shoulder support for average to heavier weight sleepers.
An intermediate layer of 1-inch Dunlop latex foam separates the comfort layer from the support layer.
The support layer has 8-inch pocketed coils of different gauges arranged in zones corresponding to certain parts of the body. The mattress also has reinforced steel braces to boost edge support.
The total height of the Avocado Green Mattress is 11 inches. That is comparable to the height of Joybed Mattress models LX (11 inches) and LXC (12 inches).
Sleeping Positions and Weight Categories
The Avocado Green Mattress is optimally suited to the average and heavier weight sleepers. They will be able to move freely and switch sleeping positions with minimal resistance. The responsiveness of the latex foams combined with the coil system provides excellent support for hips and shoulders. The Avocado Green also maintains great spinal and lumbar alignment provided by the specific zones formed by the coils.
The lightweight sleepers will find the Avocado a bit firm in all sleeping positions. They would want to consider the optional pillow top or a softer mattress.
Mattress Performance
Durability
The Avocado Green Mattress will have the same expected lifespan of the Joybed Mattress at around seven years. That is due to the latex components, low-gauge coils, and steel reinforcement.
Motion Isolation
The Joybed Mattress has similar performance in motion isolation with the Avocado Green. Both brands’ bouncy quality and responsiveness transfer most of the movements made during sleep.
Off-Gassing
The Avocado Green does not emit any smells. Minimal natural odors may be present, but they dissipate after some time.
Sleeping Temperature
The Avocado Green has a slightly cooler sleeping temperature than the Joybed Mattress because the former’s latex components are more effective in dissipating heat than the latter’s cotton layers and paddings.
Edge Support
The Avocado Green also has similar edge support performance to the Joybed Mattress because of the former’s reinforced steel perimeter at the support layer. Noise
The Joybed is a bit quieter than the Avocado Green because the Joybed’s natural cotton comfort layers absorb sounds emitted by its coil system.

The Joybed Mattress and the Avocado Green Mattress are both environment-friendly products. Because the Joy-bed Mattress is substantially cheaper than the Avocado Green Mattress with almost comparable features and performance, we recommend the former as the better option.
Joybed Mattress VS Brooklyn Bedding Bloom Hybrid Mattress
The Brooklyn Bedding Bloom Hybrid Mattress uses natural and organic materials for the comfort layers combined with pocketed coils. This mattress comes with three different firmness options: soft, medium, and firm.
Construction and Materials
The Bloom Hybrid has a cover made of natural wool and organic cotton blends that give some level of cooling.
Its comfort layer consists of a 3-inch Talalay latex foam. This particular latex variant provides an excellent balance in body-conforming (pressure relief) and responsiveness (support). It is also an aerated foam that aids in regulating the temperature.
The Bloom Hybrid has a layer of 8-inch thick pocketed coils fixed on a high-density polyfoam base. Together, the coils and polyfoam layer provide excellent reinforcement of the upper layers and edges. It counteracts excessive compression that can deform the foam components over time.
The Bloom Hybrid Mattress has a total height of 12 inches.
Firmness and Ratings
The Bloom Hybrid offers three firmness options: Soft (3.5), Medium (6), and Firm (7.5). Each option has varying degrees of body-conforming and support. That makes the Bloom Hybrid highly adaptable to all sleeping positions and can accommodate all weight sleeper groups.
This feature makes the Bloom Hybrid almost an exact match to the Joybed Mattress (model LXP with 4; LXC with 6; LX with 7) in terms of firmness settings.

As a general rule, the softer the mattress is, the lighter the weight it can comfortably accommodate, and vice versa. Since you can choose the appropriate firmness for your needs, you get the optimal bed for your investment.
The Bloom Hybrid has very good to excellent results across all sleeping positions.

This group favored the medium firmness option. The Bloom Hybrid offered them a superb balance in pressure relief and ample support for proper body alignment. Other sleepers in this group also favor the other two firmness options depending on which end of the weight range they belong to in the group.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs
Sleepers in this group prefer the firm option because it gave them the best support in all positions. They find the medium option offers only moderate support with ample pressure relief. The sleepers did not like the soft option because they sank considerably, which caused spinal misalignment.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lbs
This group liked both soft and medium options. The soft option provided sleepers with extra cushioning for the shoulders and hips for effective spinal alignment. The medium setting was perfect for the stomach and back sleepers in the group.
Mattress Performance
Sleeping Temperature
Bloom Hybrid has a cool sleeping temperature because of its natural cotton/wool blend, breathable Talalay latex layer, and the coil system, which generates air circulation. The Bloom Hybrid provides a slightly more comfortable sleeping experience than the Joybed mattress.
Motion Transfer
The Bloom Hybrid was only able to isolate some motion but did not stop the transfer completely. However, it performed better than the Joybed Mattress because the latex foam is a better motion insulator than cotton. That makes Bloom Hybrid a better option for couples who are easily disturbed by movements during sleep.
Edge Support
The coil support system in both brands reinforces the edges effectively against excessive compression. Sleepers will not feel like falling off the bed. That makes both Bloom Hybrid and the Joybed excellent options for couples.
Durability
The Bloom Hybrid is relatively new, so we do not have enough data to get a conclusive result. However, based on material quality and customer feedback, we give it a lifespan of 7 to 8 years. Latex is more robust than cotton blends, so it can resist wearing better. Also, the 8-inch coils in the support core add superior reinforcement.
Off-Gassing
The Bloom Hybrid has some off-gassing odor after unpacking from the box. However, this smell dissipates after some time. Furthermore, the coil system circulates enough air to dissipate any present odor.
Noise
The Joybed Mattress performed better than the Bloom Hybrid in this category because the cotton components absorb sound better than the latex foam. At any rate, the Bloom Hybrid emitted only faint noises coming from the coil system. Furthermore, these sounds are not enough to disturb your sleep.
