Level Sleep Mattress
Firmness and Rating
How Firm is the Level Sleep Mattress?
The Level Sleep Mattress’ unique feature is a TriSupport structure. That is essentially a zoned comfort layer that provides three different firmness settings:
Medium-Firm
- Soft (3) setting at the area under the head and feet for a plush cradling effect
- Firm (7) setting underneath the back for proper spinal alignment
- Medium-firm (5.5) beneath the torso/waist to alleviate pressure at the hips
Sleeping on the Level Sleep Mattress (Sleeping Positions)
The Level Sleep is excellent in providing comfort for lightweight to average weight sleepers across all sleeping positions. The heavier weight sleepers experience only moderate support despite the firm settings located underneath the back.
What does the Level Sleep Mattress Feel Like?
The TriSupport structure gives a range from soft cushioning to firm responsive support in specific areas of the sleeping surface.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230lbs
The average weight sleepers experienced excellent comfort in the back position because of proper spine alignment and hip support. They have outstanding results in the side and stomach positions due to the cushioning of the head, neck, feet, and waist.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs
The heavier sleepers only experienced moderate comfort in all sleeping positions as the soft and medium-firm areas allowed their hips and shoulders to sink in too much. That caused spine misalignment and pressure at the lumbar region. They also found the Level Sleep Mattress somewhat restrictive when they move across the sleeping surface.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lbs
The lightweight sleepers highly favored the Level Sleep Mattress because of the balanced cushioning and body support they experienced in all sleeping positions.
Construction and Materials
Cover
The cover is a thin polyester fabric with a 4-way stretch feature that draws moisture off the body.
Comfort Layers
The Level Sleep Mattress has two comfort layers:
- The top layer is a 1-inch thick polyfoam with a high-resilience quality. It offers a plush cushioning of the body.
- The second layer is a 3-inch thick zoned polyfoam that provides various levels of support and pressure relief:
- The area under the head and feet has a soft feel for a plush cradling effect.
- The part underneath the back is firm for proper spinal alignment and shoulder support.
- The zone beneath the torso/waist has a medium-firm feel for relieving pressure at the hips.
Furthermore, the zoned comfort layer also acts as a buffer between the sleeper and the rigid and uncomfortable support layer.
Support Layer
The support layer consists of a 7-inch block of high-density polyfoam. This sturdy base reinforces the upper comfort layers and minimizes edge compression. It also gives the mattress its form and structure.
Mattress Height
The total height is 11 inches, which gives the Level Sleep Mattress a medium profile. That makes the bed very manageable to move around the house.
Level Sleep Mattress Size Options and Price
The Level Sleep Mattress is affordable, with the Queen size having a price tag just under $1200. Level Sleep occasionally offers discounts and promos that bring the prices down significantly. Here is a table showing the different prices of the Level Sleep mattress:

Level Sleep Mattress
Mattress Performance
Sleeping Hot or Cold
The Level Sleep Mattress tends to sleep warm because of all the foam materials in its structure. However, it performs better than most multi-foam beds, because it has a zoned comfort layer that keeps the sleeper above the surface. That, combined with a temperature regulating cover dissipates more heat than similar mattresses from other brands.
Motion Transfer
The multi-foam structure of the Level Sleep Mattress absorbs most of the motion generated during sleep. A sufficient motion isolation capability means the Level Sleep mattress is optimal for sleeping couples as they will not get easily disturbed by movements.
Edge Support
Despite the robust high-density polyfoam base reinforcing the sides of the comfort layers, there is still significant compression and sagging. Although a person sleeping at the edges will not fall off the bed, they don’t feel very confident being at the side.
Durability
Since the Level Sleep mattress has only been in the market for a few years, we do not have sufficient data to arrive at an accurate lifespan figure. We will base the estimate on Level Sleep’s reputation, materials used, and owner input.
We give the Level Sleep Mattress an expected life of 6 years, which is lower than most multi-foam beds. The softest zones of the comfort layer will deteriorate faster than the medium-firm and firm zones over time. Depressions will form in the sleeping surface and will affect overall feel and performance.
A disadvantage of having zoned comfort layers is that the Level Sleep Mattress should not be rotated to maintain the position of the zoned foam. Sleeping with a specific part of the body resting on the wrong zone will result in pressure build-up and discomfort.
Off-Gassing
An initial off-gassing odor was detected, but this smell dissipated after some time. Furthermore, most of the owners did not report persistent odors.
Noise
The Level Sleep Mattress did not make noises while bearing weight. The significant amount of foam in the structure absorbs sound effectively. Most importantly, there are no metal parts that are prone to make noises over time.
Warranty Info
- The Level Sleep Mattress comes with a non-prorated lifetime warranty.
The warranty takes effect on the original purchase date. During the validity, Level Sleep reserves the right to replace or repair defective mattresses. - Level Sleep will absorb all transport charges related to defective mattresses.

Comparisons and Alternatives
Level Sleep Mattress VS Nectar Mattress
The Nectar Mattress is the flagship memory foam bed of Nectar Sleep based in Palo Alto, California. An important note: both Nectar Sleep and Level Sleep are owned by the same mother company, Resident Home. Level Sleep became part of that group when Resident Home acquired them in 2018. As the Level Sleep Mattress is the only mattress product of Level Sleep, we included Nectar Mattress in this comparison as a companion product to Level Sleep Mattress.
Construction and Materials
The Nectar Mattress is covered by a blend of TENCEL lyocell and cotton. It is a breathable cover that can be washed. The Nectar Mattress has two comfort layers (top – 1 inch thick; lower – 3 inches thick) of gel memory foams with different densities that provide pressure relief and spine support.
Beneath the comfort layers is a transitional layer of high-density polyfoam 1.75 inches thick. This layer prevents sagging and acts as a buffer isolating the sleeper from the dense and uncomfortable support layer.
Finally, the support layer is a 5.25-inch block of ultra-high-density polyfoam. Combined with the transitional layer, the two layers reinforce the upper portion of the mattress and minimize compression at the edges.
The Nectar Mattress is 11 inches in height. Similar to the Level Sleep Mattress, it is still considered a medium-profile bed that is manageable to move around the house.
Firmness and Rating
The Nectar Mattress has a firmness rating of 6 or medium-firm. The construction gives the Nectar a luxurious but intensely supportive quality that is optimal with average to heavy sleepers in all sleeping positions. The lightweight group will find it too firm for them.
Sleep Positions and Weight Categories
The average weight group was extremely comfortable while sleeping in all positions. The Nectar Mattress provided an excellent balance between pressure relief and adequate support for the neck, shoulders, and hips.
The Heavier weight group had outstanding results sleeping on their back and side, and moderate effects on the stomach position. Multi-foam beds are usually not able to please this group, but the Nectar Mattress was able to give them ample support at the hips and shoulders to keep proper spinal alignment. The mattress was responsive enough to let this group move with minimal resistance.
The lightweight sleepers were very comfortable at the back position and had moderate results at the side and stomach positions. The high-density polyfoam base was able to provide adequate support to their hips and shoulders to allow proper spine alignment.
Mattress Performance
Sleeping temperature
All the high-density poly foams create a slightly warm sleeping temperature, but the cover and the comfort layers of lower density memory foams dissipate the heat absorbed. That gives the Nectar a similar neutral temperature compared to the Level Sleep Mattress.
Motion transfer
The Nectar Mattress is very efficient in isolating any disturbances caused by a partner’s movements. The multi-foam structure effectively absorbs any motion transfer occurring during sleep.
Edge support
The high-density polyfoam base effectively reinforced the sides of the comfort layers. There is substantial compression when you sit at the edge, but is greatly minimized. That means the Nectar Mattress is optimal for sleeping couples.
Durability
Since the Nectar is reasonably new, we are basing our durability assessment on the materials and construction of the mattress, as well as on owners’ input. We give the Nectar Mattress a life expectancy of 7 to 8 years, which is higher than most multi-foam beds.
Off-gassing
There is an off-gassing odor after unpacking the mattress, but this goes away after some days.
Noise
The Nectar Mattress is very silent. The multi-foam structure is excellent in absorbing sound. Of course, there are no metal components that are prone to make noise over time. All that makes the Nectar Mattress optimal for sound-sensitive sleepers.
Recap
The Nectar Mattress only has minor advantages over the Level Sleep mattress. However, it is priced 30% lower than the Level Sleep Mattress, so we recommend the Nectar mattress.
Level Sleep Mattress VS Casper Mattress
The Casper Mattress is a mixed-foam mattress composed of several layers of poly foam and memory foams that make up a thickness of 12 inches.
Construction and Materials
The cover consists of a polyester-spandex blend, which you can unzip for washing. The comfort layer consists of two sub-layers of poly foam and memory foam. Then comes a transitional layer made of polyfoam that serves as a buffer to prevent more sinking. Finally, at the bottom is a support layer of high-density polyester foam.
Firmness and Ratings
The Casper Mattress has a firmness rating of 5 or medium. That means it is the best option for lightweight sleepers in all positions. They found that they get a full alignment of the spine.
Sleeping Positions and Weight Categories
For average weight sleepers, the Casper Mattress is still quite supportive and relieves pressure in all sleeping positions, especially the side.
However, for the heavier weight group, only the side sleepers had some support. This group generally found it to be too soft.
Mattress Performance
Sleeping Temperature
The Casper Mattress exhibits a neutral cooling temperature due to the presence of breathable materials in top layers.
Motion Transfer
The Casper Mattress performed well on motion isolation tests. Neither sleeper noticed any disturbance created by the other.
Pressure Relief
The Casper Mattress offered better support for lightweight to average weight sleepers. Heavier sleepers should consider other options.
Edge Support
There is considerable compression at the sides like most foam mattresses, but the sturdy support core strengthened the edges quite well.
Durability
The Casper Mattress has a life expectancy of 7 years as the support core prevents the formation of impressions and keeps the shape of the bed.
Off-Gassing
An odor can be detected even after several days from unboxing. However, this dissipated as further time passed.
Noise
The Casper Mattress did not emit any sound while bearing weight. That makes the Casper Mattress an optimal choice for sleepers who quickly get distracted.
Recap
The Casper has similar features and performances to the Level Sleep Mattress. Pricewise, the Level Sleep Mattress is about 25% more expensive than the Casper Mattress. Due to the therapeutic features of the Level Sleep Mattress, we feel it is worth the extra investment.
Level Sleep Mattress VS Leesa Legend
The Leesa Legend is Leesa Sleep’s latest offering. It is the tallest Leesa mattress at 12 inches and would suit people who are looking for beds with a high profile.
The Leesa Legend is a luxurious bed that incorporates many high-quality features that offer extraordinary comfort.
Construction and Materials
The Leesa Legend has a hypoallergenic cover consisting of a unique fabric blend. The fabric contains portions of polyester, cotton, wool, and rayon. The resulting fabric blend is a breathable cover that can effectively regulate temperature.
The Leesa Legend has three distinct comfort layers: a low-density poly foam that provides body-hugging and pressure relief; a memory foam layer; and a layer of zoned micro coils.
A transitional layer of dense polyfoam acts as a buffer that isolates the sleeper from the support layer. The support layer consists of 6-inch pocketed coils. Thicker gauge coils located at the perimeter reinforce the comfort layers, particularly at the sides, to minimize compression.
Firmness and Ratings
The Leesa Legend has a medium-firm (6.5) rating. It offers a generally bouncy and responsive feel. However, the comfort layers bring a soft body-cushioning effect that relieves pressure at contact points. The overall effect is a well-balanced feeling of luxurious firmness.
Sleep Positions and Weight Categories
The Leesa Legend provided comfort for the average weight sleepers in the back and side positions. The zoned micro-coil layer was highly effective in supporting the shoulders and hips, thus preventing further sinking.
The heavier weight sleepers in the side position favored the Leesa Legend the most. It cradled their shoulders and hips effectively. The back and stomach sleepers noticed considerable sinking of the hips that caused spine misalignment.
The lightweight sleepers generally found the Leesa Legend a bit firm, but they still appreciated the balanced cradling and support. They also liked the excellent spinal alignment provided by the zoned micro coils.
Sleeping Temperature
The Leesa Legend sleeps cooler than the Leesa original mattress because of its ventilated cover and top polyfoam comfort layer. The coil system significantly contributes to the regulated temperature by providing a continuous air circulation that dissipates heat.
Motion Transfer
The Leesa Legend can absorb motion quite well. However, it does not eliminate transfer.
Edge Support
The thicker gauge coils at the perimeter reinforce the comfort layers and mitigate compression at the sides. That makes the Leesa Legend a viable option for couples.
Durability
The Leesa Legend has an expected lifetime of 7 years.
Off-Gassing
There is an initial off-gassing odor, but the smell dissipated after some time. The coil system maintains a continuous flow of air that removes unwanted smells.
Noise
The Leesa Legend is reasonably quiet while bearing weight. However, the coils will occasionally emit sounds.
Recap
The Leesa Legend is a luxurious mattress that balances pressure relief with adequate support. It has a generally responsive feel that perfectly suits the average- to heavier- weight sleepers across most of the sleeping positions. It also provides a very comfortable sleeping temperature thanks to the many cooling devices it employs.
The only drawback is the hefty price. If it is acceptable for you to pay a bit more to experience luxurious comfort, then the Leesa Legend is for you.
